100 Hoop Challenge
BASKETBALL SHOOTING SKILL COMPETITION AND FUNDRAISER PROGRAM
BASKETBALL SHOOTING SKILL COMPETITION AND FUNDRAISER PROGRAM
Welcome to the Boys to Men NorCal 100 Hoop Challenge!
The 100 Hoop Challenge is a basketball shooting competition fundraiser hosted by Boys to Men NorCal.
Would you like to compete? Sign up as a shooter, then raise funds for Boys to Men NorCal to qualify for prizes.
Or join us for live music and burgers, sponsor a shooter to help them raise funds and qualify for better prizes, and maybe help with the rebounds.
What is the 100 Hoop Challenge?
The Hundred Hoop Challenge is a fast-paced basketball shootout and fundraiser. It’s a test of focus, endurance, and pure shooting skill. Each participant has 15 minutes to take 100 shots from designated spots on the court. Imagine the NBA 3-point competition, but with way more shots.
How does the fundraiser work?
Before stepping on the court, participants rally support by locking in pledges from friends, family, and fans—every pledge means more money raised for youth mentorship - shooters that raise $100 qualify for tier 1 prizes and the tiers go up from there (tier 2: $200 raised, tier 3: $400, tier 4: $800). All money raised goes to Boys to Men NorCal to directly support mentorship, outdoor, and sports programs for young men across Northern California.

- **Location:** Silver Springs High School, Grass Valley, California (Nevada County)
- **Schedule:** Gym opens 10:00 AM; shooting 11:00 AM–5:00 PM; live music 12:00–1:30 PM; food service 12:00–3:00 PM.
Shooting times are assigned to registered shooters in advance. The Sponsor may adjust the schedule for operational reasons.
## 3. Eligibility
1. The Contest is open to individuals age **10 and older** as of June 28, 2026.
2. Any participant **under 18 years of age** ("Minor") may participate **only** with the prior written consent of a parent or legal guardian, who must also sign the Assumption of Risk, Release, and Waiver described in Section 12. A Minor may not register on their own behalf.
3. Officers, directors, and event-day judges of the Sponsor, and members of their immediate households, may participate but are **not eligible to win prizes**, to ensure impartial scoring.
4. Participation is void where prohibited by law.
## 4. How to Enter
### 4.1 Shooters (competitors)
1. Register through the Sponsor's secure online fundraising platform.
2. Create a personalized fundraiser page.
3. Collect pledges and donations from supporters.
4. Pay the entry fee (Section 5).
5. Appear in person at the assigned time on June 28, 2026, and attempt up to 100 shots under the conditions in Section 8.
### 4.2 Spectators / Supporters
Attendance is **free** and open to the public (food is $8 per plate). Supporters may sponsor a shooter or donate directly. Spectators and donors are not "participants" in the contest of skill and are not eligible for skill-based prizes.
## 5. Entry Fee and What It Includes
- The shooter entry fee is **$25.00**, which includes a Contest t-shirt and poster.
- The entry fee is **non-refundable** except as expressly provided in Section 14 (weather cancellation).
- **Scholarships:** The entry fee may be **waived in full upon request** so that ability to pay is not a barrier to competing. Contact the Sponsor (Section 1) to request a scholarship before the event. A shooter who receives a scholarship is eligible for all prizes on the same basis as any other shooter.
- There is **no minimum amount a shooter must raise** in order to compete or to be eligible for skill-based prizes.
## 6. Tax Treatment of Payments (Required Disclosure)
- The **$25 entry fee is not a tax-deductible charitable contribution** to the extent the shooter receives goods (t-shirt and poster) in return. Under IRC § 6115, only the amount paid **above** the fair market value of those goods, if any, may be deductible.
- **Pledges and donations** made to a shooter's fundraising page are charitable contributions to the Organization and are **tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law**, less the value of any goods or services the donor receives in return.
- The Sponsor will provide donors with written substantiation as required by law. The Sponsor does not provide tax advice; consult a tax professional.
## 7. How Prizes Are Determined — Skill and Objective Thresholds Only
**No prize in this Contest is awarded by chance, drawing, raffle, or random selection.** Every prize is awarded on one of two objective, merit-based bases:
### 7.1 Performance (skill) categories
Prizes are awarded to the shooters with the best measured shooting results, including:
- Most total shots made (overall);
- Most free throws made;
- Most 3-pointers made;
- Age-category winners (categories announced at the event); and
- Most funds raised (an objective dollar total).
Winners are determined by the official scores recorded by the event judges (Section 8).
### 7.2 Fundraising achievement tiers
Every shooter who reaches a fundraising dollar threshold earns the reward associated with that tier. These are **earned recognition rewards for verified amounts raised**, not chance-based prizes, and every shooter who reaches a tier receives that tier's reward:
| Tier | Funds Raised | Reward (examples; subject to availability) |
|------|--------------|--------------------------------------------|
| Tip-Off | $100–$199 | Sponsor-donated prizes |
| Free Throw | $200–$399 | Gift certificates, basketballs |
| Deep Three | $400–$799 | NBA-signed memorabilia |
| Game Winner | $800+ | Top prizes, including NBA tickets |
"Funds raised" means donations actually received and cleared by the Sponsor through the official fundraising platform and attributed to the shooter's page as of the cutoff stated in Section 9.
> The statement that "approximately 50% of participants are expected to win prizes" is an **estimate** based on prior participation and prize availability. It is not a guarantee, and it does **not** mean any prize is awarded by chance.
## 8. Contest Mechanics and Scoring
1. Each shooter has **15 minutes** to attempt up to **100 shots** from the designated court positions.
2. Shots are counted and recorded by official event judges/scorekeepers. A shot counts as "made" only when observed and recorded by a judge.
3. Free throws and 3-pointers are scored from the marked free-throw line and three-point line, respectively.
4. The judges' scoring decisions are **final**. Shooters may request a review at the scoring table immediately after their session and before leaving the court; reviews are not accepted afterward.
5. Standard sportsmanship and safety instructions given by event staff apply to all shooting sessions.
## 9. Fundraising Cutoff and Verification
- The cutoff for counting funds toward fundraising categories and tiers is **5:00 PM on June 28, 2026**, unless a different cutoff is announced in writing by the Sponsor.
- Only donations that have actually cleared and been attributed to a shooter's official page count. Pledges that are not paid by the cutoff do not count.
- The Sponsor's records of funds raised are final.
## 10. Ties
If two or more shooters tie in any performance category, the tie will be broken by, in order: (a) the tied shooters taking an additional timed shoot-off as directed by the judges; or, if a shoot-off is not feasible, (b) the earliest time at which the tying score was recorded. For "most funds raised," a tie is broken by the earlier time the qualifying donation total was reached. If a tie cannot be broken, duplicate prizes will be awarded where available, or prizes of comparable value substituted.
## 11. Prizes — General Conditions
1. **Approximate retail values and the specific prizes** for each category and tier will be posted at the registration platform and at the event. Prizes are **subject to availability** and may be substituted with a prize of equal or greater value.
2. Prizes are **non-transferable** and **may not be exchanged for cash**, except at the Sponsor's sole discretion.
3. **Taxes** on any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. The Sponsor will issue an IRS Form 1099 where required by law (generally for prize value of $600 or more in a calendar year), and may require a completed Form W-9 before awarding such a prize.
4. A winner who is a Minor will have prizes awarded to, and accepted by, the Minor's parent or legal guardian on the Minor's behalf.
5. **Winner list:** The names of category winners will be announced at the event and made available on request from the Sponsor (Section 1) for at least 90 days after the event.
## 12. Assumption of Risk, Release, and Waiver of Liability
1. Basketball and athletic activity involve **inherent risks** of physical injury. By participating, each shooter (and, for a Minor, the shooter's parent or legal guardian) **knowingly and voluntarily assumes all risks** of participation.
2. To the fullest extent permitted by California law, each participant (and the parent/guardian of a Minor) **releases and holds harmless** the Sponsor, the venue (Silver Springs High School and its district), and their respective officers, directors, employees, judges, and volunteers from claims for injury, loss, or damage arising out of participation in the Contest, **except** for liability that cannot be released under California law (including liability for gross negligence, recklessness, or willful misconduct, which is **not** released).
3. A signed Assumption of Risk, Release, and Waiver is required from every shooter; for a Minor, it must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. *Note: Under California law a parent's pre-injury release of a Minor's own future claims may not be enforceable in all circumstances; this provision is intended to be enforced to the maximum extent the law allows and is severable under Section 18.*
## 13. Conduct; Disqualification
Respectful, sportsmanlike conduct is required of all participants and guests. The Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, **disqualify** any participant for unsportsmanlike behavior, cheating, violation of these Rules or venue rules, or conduct that endangers others. A disqualified participant forfeits eligibility for prizes; entry fees are not refunded on disqualification.
## 14. Weather, Postponement, and Cancellation
If severe weather or other circumstances beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control require **postponement or cancellation**, the Sponsor will announce the change through the registration platform and event contacts. In the event of cancellation, **entry fees will be refunded less unrecoverable third-party processing costs**. Donations already made to the Organization are charitable gifts and are not automatically refunded. The Sponsor is not responsible for travel or other incidental costs.
## 15. Photo, Video, and Publicity Release
By participating or attending, each participant and guest (and the parent/guardian of a Minor) **consents to being photographed, filmed, and recorded**, and grants the Sponsor the irrevocable right to use such images, video, voice, name, and likeness for the Sponsor's promotional, fundraising, and educational purposes, in any media, without further notice or compensation. A participant who does not wish to be recorded should notify event staff in writing before competing.
## 16. Online Fundraising Platform
Online registration, pledges, and donations are processed through the Sponsor's third-party charitable fundraising platform. The platform operates in compliance with California's charitable fundraising-platform requirements (Cal. Gov. Code § 12599.9, "AB 488"). Funds are held and delivered to the Organization in accordance with that platform's terms and applicable law. The Sponsor is not responsible for technical failures, delays, or errors of the platform; donations not successfully processed and cleared do not count toward any category or tier.
## 17. Privacy
The Sponsor collects personal information (such as name, contact details, age, and payment information) to administer the Contest and to comply with law. The Sponsor uses this information consistent with its privacy practices and California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act where applicable. The Sponsor does not sell participant personal information. Donor and participant information is handled in accordance with the Sponsor's charitable obligations.
## 18. General; Governing Law; Severability
1. These Rules are governed by the laws of the **State of California**, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute relating to the Contest will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in **Nevada County, California**.
2. This Contest is intended to comply with California Business and Professions Code § 17539.1 et seq. (contests) and applicable charitable-solicitation law. It is **not** a lottery, raffle, or sweepstakes and contains **no element of chance** in the awarding of prizes.
3. The Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest, or to amend these Rules, if required by law or by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, with notice posted through the registration platform.
4. If any provision of these Rules is held unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
5. The decisions of the Sponsor and its judges on all matters relating to the Contest are final and binding.
