CURRICULUM

The Boys to Men Mentoring (B2M) curriculum integrates holistic, intergenerational, and asset-based mentoring practices to encourage community involvement, deep self-reflection, critical thinking, and self-accountability for young men. Spanning 32 weeks, the curriculum is designed to help teenage boys navigate common challenges at home and school while making conscious choices throughout their adolescent development.

Each session begins with a check-in round. Often a mentor will share a personal story from his teenage years related to the week’s topic. A core principle of B2M is that mentors do not teach or lecture; instead, they share their own experiences, including the emotions, mistakes, lessons, and long-term consequences of their actions. This approach empowers the boys to open up about their own challenges, make independent decisions, and take responsibility for their choices and outcomes.

The program includes physical activities, like ball games and exercises, to balance classroom time and support engagement. Additional program elements include mentorship outings with adventure sports (such as kayaking, mountain biking, and archery), wilderness skills, nature awareness, hiking, camping, community sports, service projects, teen rites of passage, and leadership development weekends.
