Boys to Men NorCal has active school based programs in the following Northern California Counties:
Contra Costa County - Santa Cruz County
Our mentorship circles create a safe space where boys can express their feelings, share difficulties, and talk about their challenges. Often, this support is enough to keep them on a positive path.
Every day, boys are joining gangs, dropping out of school, and turning to drugs or alcohol to cope with life’s pressures. Boys to Men Mentoring offers a much better alternative.
By partnering with schools, administrators help us identify boys who could benefit from our program. Boys to Men groups are open to all boys, creating diverse and dynamic group circles that include participants from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Currently, 40% of our participants are fatherless, and over 95% qualify for free or reduced lunch programs.
Our community mentoring approach has received high praise from school principals, administrators, and teachers for its proven ability to improve academic performance, attendance, and attitudes, while significantly reducing disciplinary issues, expulsions, and dropout rates among at-risk boys. We evaluate our impact through multiple methods, including surveys, GPA and behavioral data, attendance records, testimonials, and case studies conducted in partnership with local universities.
Boys who participate for one school year improve their GPA by an average of 27% and experience an 85% decline in disciplinary incidents.
"If I had a chance to talk to every middle school administrator in this country about the one thing they could do that could make a difference, it would be Boys to Men. I find words inadequate to describe the profound impact Boys to Men has had on the lives of our students. Boys to Men should be in every middle school." - Dana Wright, Principal, Spring Valley Middle School
