Becoming a mentor with Boys to Men Mentoring begins by volunteering at a local school. Mentors are the foundation of our organization—without them, our program couldn’t thrive. We provide stipends for our lead mentors and program facilitators.
Our mentors are men who care deeply about supporting boys and young men in our communities. A volunteer mentor commits to spending an hour per week with boys in a classroom setting, about a half hour per week preparing and debriefing the group experience and one hour per month on a mentorship call with other mentors and a trainer throughout the school year.
New volunteers must pass a preliminary screening, State and Federal background checks, a TB test and Mentor Orientation Training before working with youth. New mentors must complete Mentor/Facilitator Training One (MFT I) within six months of joining the team and Mentor/Facilitator Training Two (MFT II) is required to become a Lead Mentor or Program Facilitator (along with Mandated Reporter Training and CPR / First Aid Certification).
