Emotionally Safe Spaces for Boys

Boys thrive and grow in an environment of care, acceptance and gentle challenge. Our mentors are trained to practice Listening and Encouraging rather than Fixing or Advising

We have a proven approach that helps boys learn who they are and how they want to express themselves in the world.

Mentors Who Care

Our mentors meet regularly to connect and train on how to best help boys with the unique challenges they face in the 21st century.

We focus on listening, accepting and encouraging and we try not to fix, rescue or advise the boys.

Boys Who Shift the Culture

Schools with Boys to Men programs report that their boys become positive role models in class. Would you like to see this happen in your school?

Hear it from the Boys:

Are you a man who would like to be a mentor?

Apply to join us for the 2023-2024 School Year! We currently have middle school circles in San Francisco and San Jose and a new program starting in Grass Valley & Nevada City.

Who we are.  What we do.

We strive to be a positive addition to the great work that dads, uncles, older brothers and grandfathers are doing every day.

We want all boys to have more positive male role models available so they can develop positive, healthy masculinity.

Our groups include group games, invitations to share emotionally, and adult men who are ready to listen and encourage.

Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Northern California is a 501c(3) non-profit organization.  We are part of the national Boys to Men USA network. We provide no-cost mentoring programs for boys to public, private and charter schools and community centers.

Our circles typically include 8-15 boys and 4-5 adult male mentors. Each session is about 1 hour during school hours. We accept any child in our circles who identifies as "he or him".

Our mentor team is made up of unpaid volunteers who donate 2-3 hours per week of their time and energy to mentorship and administrative activities. Our mentors undergo comprehensive screening and background checks.

Boys to Men NorCal currently has circles for the 2024-2025 school year at Pajaro Valley Unified School District and West Contra Costa Unified School District and a Basketball Community Clinic in Grass Valley.

Our Programs Get Results!

We have a proven approach that produces real change within young men.

This mentoring model has been a resounding success with school administrators, parents, mentors and, most importantly, the boys.

In 2019, our brother organization Boys to Men Mentoring of San Diego facilitated groups at 35 school partner locations across San Diego County serving over 800 boys on a weekly basis.

In San Diego County alone, more than 12,000 boys and men have participated in the program from 1996-2023.

San Diego is thriving. Boys to Men NorCal is bringing this program to Northern California.

We need volunteers and donations to continue this life-changing program!
