Mentorship FOR BOYS
PROGRAMS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLs AND HIGH SCHOOLs
We train teams of men to go into our middle and high schools to mentor at-risk boys, many of whom have no fathers at home.
We have a boy crisis in this country. According to the Department of Justice, 75% of crimes in the U.S. are committed by high school drop-outs and 71% of high school dropouts are boys from fatherless homes. There are currently 60,000 boys and young men, under the age of 18 incarcerated in the U.S., 85% of which come from fatherless homes. Additionally, 63% of youth suicides and 90% of boys who run away or become homeless are from fatherless homes.
What kind of men would we have in our communities if boys grew up with positive role models and peer groups that provide the connection, modeling and support necessary to successfully navigate life's many challenges from 6th through 12th grade?
Boys To Men Mentoring sends teams of trained men into our schools to mentor our most at-risk populations of boys and young men. We have an incredible curriculum created out of 30 years experience working with over 15,000 boys!
Our mentoring approach empowers boys to discover who they are and the values they want to live by through listening, encouraging and thoughtful questions. Boys and young men thrive in an environment of care and acceptance.
Core to the program is the circle of trust created by speaking honestly. In the circle, boys learn to be there for one another and face life's difficulties together.
Mentors Who Care
Our mentors are positive male role models and provide a positive male presence so the boys can develop healthy masculinity.
Our program trains mentors to focus on listening, accepting and encouraging, rather than fixing, rescuing or advising. Mentorship supports boys to tune in to their inner guidence and make empowered choices.
Mentors model skills, like mindfulness, critical thinking and conscious decision-making and meet regularly to discuss how to best help the boys they are mentoring.

Who we are - What we do
Boys to Men Mentoring of Northern California is a chapter in the National Boys to Men USA Network. B2M offers mentoring programs at schools and community centers. Most of the boys we work with are considered "at-risk," facing circumstances that jeopardize a healthy transition to adulthood. Over 60% of the boys we serve come from fatherless homes.
Our mentors encourage boys to open up about life’s difficulties and challenges and are given positive ways to release the burdens of any pain, grief, or guilt they may carry. In this healthy masculine environment, peers become like brothers, learning to support each other and stand together.
B2M Mentoring offers a time-tested curriculum, with exercises, and activities that guide boys in examining themselves and getting present to thier lives. This approach helps them to identify and cultivate the values they most want to live by and the kind of man they want to be.
Our Programs Get Results!
Our mentoring model is a resounding success with school administrators, parents, mentors, and most importantly, the boys. Over 15,000 boys have participated in Boys To Men Mentoring programs. B2M has a proven approach and curriculum that produces positive change.
Boys who attend regularly learn that they are in control of their lives and can change unwanted behavior by building healthy habits. With the support and accountability of their peers, they are successful in making the changes they want to make in their lives.

ADVENTURE MENTORSHIP
Some Boys To Men programs offer day and weekend outings that feature wilderness skills and adventure sports. There are many natural mentorship opportunities that arise in the wild and when engaging in activities such as kayaking, archery, mountain biking or making fire by friction.
COMMUNITY SPORTS
&
TEEN RITES OF PASSAGE
B2M Mentoring sponsors after school Community Sports Programs (such as basketball) and provides Teen Rites of Passage camping and backpacking experiences that aid the healthy transition from boyhood to young man.
We encourage boys and young men to look less at screens and have more personal connection time with people and nature through activities that enhance communication skills and foster cooperation and teamwork.
